We’ll never run out of “expert” blogs on social media – we love reading them ourselves, but we aren’t going to compile a list of them for you and the reason will become obvious soon, and no, this isn’t like one of those sorts of blogs. You see, those blogs share vast amounts of information, including delicacies like the intricacies of Facebook’s Power Editor, how to use Twitter Ads to schedule (yes, schedule) tweets, the precise size, to the pixel, of a Pinterest Cover, a Google+ post, a YouTube Profile. The list goes on ad infinitum.
We’re here to upset the applecart today.
There’s one secret that the mouthpieces of social media fail to mention, a fact which is so obvious that when we point it out to our clients they look at us glumly, because it was staring them in the face all along and nobody told them and if they’d known, they wouldn’t have wasted thousands (if not more) on digital marketing.
It was there, staring them in the face, and nobody told them.
So, we’re going to tell you, and it’s up to you what you do with it. This is the blue pill moment when you decide whether you want to escape the Matrix OR…
Great, you decided to swallow the bitter pill. So, here goes:
- If you want to know how to do Facebook and then just look at how Facebook does, erm, Facebook.
- If you wish to master Twitter, watch, erm, Twitter do its thang.
- If instead your aim is to supercharge your Google+ Page, then…you get the point, right?
Irrespective of the statistics spewed out by marketers nobody knows Twitter like Twitter does and nobody knows Instagram like Instagram does…so if you want to learn, learn directly from them. Experts will tell you how often you ought to tweet, but why don’t you let Twitter show you how often it itself tweets and then please go back to the experts and show them and FYI, in case you can’t be bothered to check, on today’s date, the 17th of the month of April 2015, Twitter tweeted twice. Twice.
Did you see that coming?
